Driving license is one of the important document, which is required for driving vehicles in any city along with other necessary papers for the motor vehicle.  In earlier days, getting a driving license or renewing it was a hectic process where one needed to visit the RTO and fill all necessary forms along with the waiting time in queue.

With the advancement of technology, the process has changed and things are much easy to be done online. Please follow the steps shown below to get your license renewed:

1) Visit the official site:

https://sarathi.parivahan.gov.in/sarathiservice/stateSelection.do

2) Select your state

3) Click on Apply for DL Renewal

4) You can also click on Renewal of DL on the pop-up screen as shown below

7) Verify your details as shown on the screen and click on proceed.

8) Once you agree to all terms. Ensure to check DL Renewal as at times it takes Change address. This is because if your DL was done at another authority and now it comes from a different backend office then there will be a mismatch, which is ok.

9) After that it didn't show the DL details upon refetching so ensure you note down your application number for further steps:

10) You can resume your application using the number noted above.

11) Verify your signature and upload a recent photograph with the requirements shown on the screen

12) It will ask to confirm your address for delivery. Verify the mobile number as well with OTP

13)Make the necessary payment for online renewal and after 7-10 days you will get your renewed license at your home.

14) No driving test is required incase you don't want to add any other category to your DL. It will be renewed with existing details for another 10 years or 5 years whichever is applicable as per your age.

Government has done a great job by making this online process as it helps in avoiding unnecessary visit to the RTO along with ending the broker system.
